What comes to mind once in a while: not all texts are translated correctly, at least when I tried it in my own native language (German). The automatic detection of problematic web content works quite reliably with Qustodio. Also, with children the communication is always clear: you may, you may not, the time of use is over and so on. Parents receive detailed information about what the children are doing on their smartphone, both by e-mail and as a direct notification on the parent's device. Qustodio is not stingy with notifications, on the contrary. Entire areas can also be excluded, for example, if you do not want to monitor the child's location in general. Individual rules and exceptions can be defined for all areas of Qustodio. You can configure the boundaries for your child from your smartphone, but it's more convenient on the computer. SMS can only be monitored in terms of content, but not completely blocked. In order to monitor the social media accounts, the login data is necessary. Individual apps and websites can either be activated or blocked as a whole, or their use can be monitored. The parents can determine for each area of Qustodio what the children are allowed to do and what not.
Qustodio can be used either free of charge or with the Premium Package, which includes more options. The setup is done quickly and easily, set your email address and password, that's it.
The app is available for Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, and Kindle and we decided to have an in-depth look at the Android version.
So please give your kid(s) a second chance to prove they don't need apps like this one. There are quite a number of child protection apps on the market and Qustodio is among the most popular. One more reason children like tech so much is because they grew up with it. I hope you consider this message and try to understand where your child is coming from. Sometimes they will need help and that is okay. Some problems ar fixable without your help.
You only download apps like this one so you won't have to feel guilty if they get in trouble. They don't nee privacy" or, "they are not adults yet and don't have rights." or you might even say," well I pay for their phone bill so they don't have to." Those things I just listed are excuses. If you want your child to trust you then let them have their privacy. If your child is having trouble understanding the real world or how life works then don't get them a phone.
They won't know what to look for in a bad person or know how to protect themselves. If you don't expose your child to the real world they won't survive. I can't open up to them because they would use, "its for your own good." or something along those lines. From experience during the time I've had this app, I have grown away from my family even more than ever. I understand that you want to keep them safe but all your doing is creating trust issues. For the sake of your relationship with your child. Sadly that’s not been my experience here.ĭon't get this app parents. I understand technology can be glitchy and I’m patient and understanding of all of that when a company puts a premium on customer service. I guess they do offer phone support to people who review their product negatively in online forums but not when they request help privately. While I was pleased to see a company try to make the situation right, it is frustrating because when I emailed customer service months ago to deal with the problems I was having and asked if we could have a call in light of how long the back and forth over email took, the rep said that Qustodio does not offer phone support. However, what is most upsetting to me is that after just reading one of those reviews here, I see that Qustodio responded to it asking the customer to reach out and reference his review so that they could set up a service call. I read another review here citing very similar issues to the ones that I had and so I feel like I’m not alone in my frustration.
Sadly it does not work as effectively as advertised. I was excited to sign up for this service as it seemed to offer everything I was looking for in a monitoring device.
